It is manufactured by cipla pvt ltd. X bira is exists under anti neoplastic drugs; it is act by depleting the androgen production in the body. Androgen is a male hormone which regulates the tumors cell in prostate glands. Generally this tablet is used by combining with prednisolone, a steroid which reduces the exposure of side effects produced by Abiraterone.
Pharmacology of Xbira
Mechanism of action: Androgens are responsible for production of tumors in prostate. X bira is an anti androgen medication, which leads to eradicate the enzyme 17Î±-hydroxylase C 17, 20-lyase (CYP17), it is involved in androgen synthesis. Reduce the serum testosterone level. Depletion of tumor cell occurred. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption of tablet Xbira: The median plasma concentration of tablet Xbira takes 12 hours. Distribution of Xbira tablets Tablet Xbira is highly bound to the plasma protein like albumin and alpha-1 acid glycoprotein. Metabolism of Xbira tablets The metabolites of Abiraterone in human plasma are Abiraterone sulphate and N-oxide Abiraterone sulphate. Excretion of Xbira The mean terminal half life of tablet Xbira is 12 Â± 5 hours. It is mainly excreted in 88% faeces and 5% in urine.
Indication of Xbira
Xbira is used in the treatment of patients with metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer who are previously received docetaxel with prednisolone. Xbira should be given with prednisolone to reduce the adverse effects which are produced by Xbira.
Dose & Dosage's of Xbira
The dose of Abiraterone is usually endorsed as 4 tablets orally once daily with 5mg prednisolone twice daily in empty stomach. Missed dose: If patient missed the dose of Abiraterone, that missed dose will be skipped and follow the regular dosing schedule.
